The Grey Guard cordially invites any mature and friendly players on the European Laurelin Realm to join us in our adventure, there is an age limit of 18 years old or older though to join the Grey Guard. We are an extremely active Kin having seen a huge interest from players since our conception in June 2007. Our Members are active throughout the day but we remain most between 7.00pm and midnight (servertime). Our Members are made up from players from the UK, Denmark, Belgium, Finland, Holland, Sweden....well you get the picture I am sure. We also have members not living in Europe, mainly the US.
We have no wish to be dealing with huge guild dramas, so if you think your mature enough to handle a kinship that will be here for some time, with the primary agenda being to have some fun, then feel free to contact one of us in-game or preferably via our forum. It's really important that you bear in mind that sometimes, even if it looks like we are online, we may be busy role-playing, adventuring, or even (god forbid) afk, so please don't expect immediate replies. Just know that we WILL do our very best to get in touch with you. We will also make it quite clear that this kinship does not enforce in-character chat in the kinchat channel so if that's something you are looking for we are sorry but your not going to like it here.
I guess at that point someone is going to hit us with the "why are you on a RP server then?" question. Well I'll save you the bother of posting on our forums to find out and answer that here. Many of us in this kin actively enjoy role-playing. In fact some members have exceptionally detailed backgrounds once you get to know them and there's certainly some quirky characters you'll enjoy meeting!
However, the majority of this role-playing is done outside of our main grouping agenda for completing quests etc. and thats why we do not enforce IC in kinchat. If the odd lol, or rofl is going to have you exploding in epic tantrums as you bellow bubbling spittle across your monitor then do us all a favour and leave us be. Of course that said, if you ever see one of our members acting in a non-rp manner in any OTHER channels (as per Turbine's own RP realm policy) then drop us a line and we will be more than happy to perform the above for you along with a deft banning of the culprit from the kinship.
The list of current Officers who can answer any queries you may have are :
- Leader: Maexe (Rewn, Finder, Ceosi) [GMT/BST]
- Officer: Eiadric (Eadhras) [CET/CEST]
- Officer: Eleinin (Niping, Leofgar) [GMT/BST]
- Officer: Erunaneth (Lothirieth, Cordyline, Nenneth, Laenewyn) [GMT/BST]
- Officer: Landril (Landrill, Landriil) [CET/CEST]
- Officer: Nehariel (Chrystal, Alquaeth, Nehalwen) [CET/CEST]
- Officer: Nodlos (Beregtathar, Brethillas, Solnod, Odslon) [CET/CEST]
- Officer: Tilda (Tyrone, Trimli, Galuwen, Judie) [CET/CEST]
Please be aware that there will be a period of mutual "settling in" where not only are you obviously free to leave at any time, but also where we are free to remove you from the kinship if we feel you are not what we are looking for. If this does ever occur (and if your basically a decent chap or lass it won't) we will not provide any reason for doing so - unless you specifically ask us to. Even then we might not say anything anyway.
Just have some common sense to be honest. Some of us are pretty much mature (this does not necessarily mean old!) MMO gamers who date back to UO (if you need to ask we'll mail you a breakdown of what this is on our 28.8K modems - could take some time) and have seen enough drama, laughs and memorable RP-moments to write a novel. Ninjaing, sexism, racism and generally being a prick will get you booted out. Permanently.
I guess, and this is pretty open to interpretation, we are just looking for some fun friends to share our evenings with. We do not want players who are playing ten hours a day and progressing at a phenomenal rate and who are not then interested in spending some time helping out the rest of the kin when they come online. We are here long term to enjoy the journey and have some fun, with a stable and regular playerbase for questing.
If that sounds like something you can be a part of, and something you would like to see grow and evolve through YOUR input, then get in touch. If not, we can all at least ensure that Laurelin remains a great community for all and we'll hopefully see you out there.
Safe travels!
