Dear kin
As many of you are aware, work has been taking place to develop a new home for the Grey Guard online. Using a content management system called Drupal, a team has developed a new forum, with revised functionality around events, the recruitment process, the look and feel of the forum, and many other aspects which will improve the forum.
The time has now come to make the move. As at 31st January, the new site will become the active site for the kin. Over the next week we will be working to move across the important information from out current home, to the new one.
The idea behind this is to complete the final testing as a live entity. The real problems about organising events, sending private messages, posting screenshots when we kill the Lieutenant of Dol Guldur, will only probably be discovered when we use the new forum properly. We will also see how it works when we have 30+ active users on a regular basis.
We are moving across on a trial basis of four weeks. During this time the officers will be monitoring how the site works to ensure that there are no serious problems. At the end of this a decision, involving the kin, will be made about adopting the site as our permanent home.
The new site does look different from the current one so there will be elements that have changed. If something doesn't appear to work, please let a member of the development team know. The decision to move is one that has been discussed and agreed by the officer core, so if you have any issues with that decision, please have a word with one of them.
Finally I would like to thank all those who have been involved, particularly the developers Winagrim, Bossa, and Nodlos, as well as everyone who has taken the time to look at the new site and provide feedback. The time that all have put in has been very much appreciated and again makes me pleased to be here as an officer watching it all happen
Details of the new site address will be published once ready for visitors.
If you have any queries please contact an offier or a member of the development team.
Thanks for reading
Maexe
