My account

There are a lot of settings available for every user under My account. Some of it can be a bit confusing. This little guide aim to make this a little more understandable.

My account

First of all, on this page you find the information that others can see about you. As you can see there is a menu on top.

• View
  The actual overview that we see on the image.
• Edit
  Click here to edit your basic account settings.
• Notifications
  You find your subscriptions and notifications here.
• Posts
  A tracker showing all the posts you've made.
• [Track page visits]
  Statistics that have been disabled.
• File browser
  All the files you've uploaded to the site.
• Signups
  Your current signups.

Information

To the left you can your author pane. This contains basic information about your account that everyone can see.

• Name
  This is NOT your username but the name of your main character that you posted in your application.
• Avatar
  The image you've chosen for yourself.
• Status
  Showing others if you're online or offline.
• Last seen
  Last time you were active on the website.
• Title
  This is NOT your actual role but a title given to you either automatically or by the officers.
• Joined
  The date when your account was created (goes back to our old phpBB-forums)
• Posts
  The number of nodes and comments that you've posted.
• User points
  Your amount of user points. This is NOT working as intended and shows your TOTAL of ANY type of user points on the site.
• [IP Address]
  Officers and administrators can also see your last ip address here.

Characters

Here you find all the characters that you've added under My chars.

Edit

If you click Edit you find all kinds of editable information. Some of it for your eyes only while some can be seen by everyone.

As you can see there is a secondary menu here.

• Account
  The view on the image.
• Application
  Here you can update your kin application.
• User profile
  Additional contact information.
• Contact
  Some more contant information.
• Personal
  Some information about you as a person.
• Personal information
  Location and birthday.

You probably think this is very confusing, and I agree. We will try to clean this up a bit in the future.

Settings

• Account information
  Shows your current e-mail address where notifications from the site will be sent. This is also the address that will be used if you ever forget your password.
• Password
  Change your password as you like. It is saved encrypted in the database.
• Picture
  Upload a nice picture to use as your avatar. Choose whatever you like, as long as it's not offensive. You delete it by checking "Delete picture" and clicking "Save" on the bottom of the page.
• Signature
  Write a signature here if you like. It can be anything really but try to keep it as short as possible. It will be shown almost anywhere and might clutter the site if it's too long.
• Comment follow-up notification settings
  By checking "Receive node follow-up notification e-mails" the site will notify you whenever someone replies to a comment  where you have asked for this kind of notification. This means that it won't notify you by ALL comments made on the site. ONLY the comments you want the site to notify you about. By default this is set to only notify you about replies made to your own comments but this can be changed in the drop-down box.
• Messaging and Notification settings
  Here you can choose HOW you want to be notified. Either by the private message system or as a notification on the site as you log on. You can also choose how often you want to be notified. This does NOT apply to the Comment follow-up notifications above.
• Locale settings
  You can set your default time-zone here. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY IMPORTANT SETTING AS EVERY DATE SHOWN ON THE SITE WILL BE BASED ON YOUR CHOICE HERE!!!
• Private messages
  Do you want to receive an e-mail whenever you get a private message on the site?
